Finnish Birch Wood

Made from responsibly managed forests in Finland. A light, highly flexible, and incredibly durable material. 100% designed and handcrafted in Madrid. Balanced and comfortable.

Are They Fragile?

Not at all! You should look after them just like any other glasses, but they are no more fragile than the rest. If you sit on them, drop them from the 5th floor, or your dog eats them, then yes… they might break.

Where and How are they Made?

Nina Mûr frames are made in-house in Madrid so the designer can also manage production processes. It’s a labour-intensive and time-consuming process, with several manual stages.

The Process

Each pair of glasses takes around 40 hours to produce (consecutive)

From Nina Mûr:

We make everything from scratch. The design and prototypes until the desired result is achieved. In the construction of the glasses, around 85% of the phases are manual.

We create our own plywood from the thin, flexible and strong sheets of Finnish birch. We do it directly in a curve, to adjust it to the physiognomy of the face and ensure its resistance. It is pressed for more than 20 hours.

They are then cut with CNC (computer numerical control). We have programmed our own cutting software to give it three-dimensionality and ensure precision, quality and comfort.

The subsequent production phases are 90% manual: sanding, varnishing, assembly of parts, assembly of lenses, and various quality controls throughout the process. Right down to packaging, packaging and shipping!

Sustainability

Nina Mûr was born out of the slow fashion philosophy. Produced in controllable and scalable quantities. Ecological, timeless and durable.
