Are Swissflex frames durable?

While Swissflex frames are light and flexible, they are not meant to be abused or crushed. It is not uncommon for a client to report they’ve worn their Swissflex frame 10 years or more.

How do I care for and maintain Swissflex frames?

The preferred methods of cleaning are either a clean microfiber cloth and alcohol-free spray (provided by Artisan Eyewear) or warm water and a little Dawn detergent. We also like to employ an extra-soft toothbrush for getting the nooks and crannies!

Avoid using lens sprays that contain alcohol, as well as any strong solvents or aerosols. Alcohol will make the Swissflex material brittle, leading to breakage.

Can Swissflex be repaired?

Swissflex frames are modular, meaning they are made up of individual components. The components themselves are not repairable, rather we replace them as needed.

If you damage or lose any of the temples, hinges, bridge, nosepad or temple tips, they can be replaced.

Can I swap parts on my Swissflex myself?

No, Swissflex is not designed to be broken apart with any frequency. Further, it is advised that only an optician who has received specialized training directly from Swissflex USA should perform any work on a Swissflex frame.

Are Swissflex lenses replaceable?

Yes. Swissflex Classic and Swissflex Contur frames are drill mounted and ‘reusable’ when your prescription needs updating.

Swissflex Warranty

Swissflex doesn’t sell directly to the public, and warranties are administered by the optical shop the frame was originally purchased from. Artisan Eyewear provides a 1 year warranty on frame parts starting from dispense date; this warranty is limited to manufacturer defects and does not encompass loss or misuse. Any application of super glue by the consumer voids the warranty; this is true of all frame brands.

Swissflex Adjustments

Due to the unique nature of Swissflex Eyewear, adjustments should only be made by an optician trained by the Swissflex USA company.

Swissflex frames are made with a range of 6 nose pad shapes, and an optician must fit you in person to determine the best size.

Swissflex frames can be made with one of two styles of temple (‘arm’): Raster or Straight. The straight style temple generally requires less adjustment. The raster style, which resembles a cable temple, requires an optician to use a special tool to trim the length of the temple so the endpiece sits just behind the ear.

Swissflex frames are made with components sensitive to body temperature; after 2-3 weeks of wear, the frame will fit even better!

Swissflex Systems

Swissflex makes several styles or ‘systems’ of eye wear. Artisan Eyewear works with Swissflex Classic and Swissflex Contur, but we can sometimes source Swissflex Rainbow pieces.

Swissflex Systems that Artisan Eyewear does not offer include Loop, Varius, SF Kid, and Sport.
